History of Ambri Airport
During the Second World War, the airport served as a base for the Swiss Air Force. The mountains surrounding the airport were home to bunkers, which housed tactical buildings, fighter planes and troops.
In 1994, the Swiss Air Force base was deactivated and the airfield was converted into a civilian airport.
