History of the airfield
The Gstaad airfield was used for military purposes during the Second World War and the Cold War. Its location was subject to military secrecy, not appearing in information manuals until the 1980s. Gradually, infrastructures were created to accommodate private jets.
Every year, Gstaad hosts a number of international events, including tennis tournaments. It is also the setting for numerous novels and films, such as “OSS 117: Rio ne répond plus”, “Le Retour de la panthère rose” and “Snowboarder”.
