History of London City Airport
The idea of creating a new airport emerged in 1981. A test flight was conducted to determine the feasibility of such a project and the foundation stone was laid by Prince Charles in 1986. Inaugurated in 1987, it quickly became the preferred airport for business travellers.
In 2005, major renovations were carried out to meet the growing passenger demand.
