Useful information

With 5.8 million passengers and 50,000 movements per year, Rome Ciampino Airport is less frequented than Fiumicino Airport. However, it is the airport of choice for business aviation because it allows a greater discretion, both on arrival and departure.

Its coordinates are:

  • Airport Code: CIA/LIRA
  • Latitude: 1° 47′ 58.00″ N
  • Longitude: 12° 35′ 42.00″ E
  • Altitude: 130 m
  • Runway length: 2,207 m

The airport is open 24 hours a day every day of the year, and is not subject to any flight restrictions.

Its asphalt runway can accommodate all types of private aircrafts:

  • Light air taxi, such as the Cessna 510 Mustang or the Hondajet;
  • Medium-sized private jet such as the Falcon 2000 or the Challenger 850;
  • Commercial aircraft for VIPs, such as the BBJ.

Its business terminal provides its passengers with high-quality services:

  • VIP lounges to relax while waiting for your flight;
  • Meeting rooms to work;
  • Catering service;
  • Customs service on site;
  • Possibility to book a space in the hangars.

History of Rome Ciampino Airport

Opened in 1916, Rome Ciampino Airport was first a military airfield. Major damage was caused during the Second World War. At the end of the conflict, it was decided to rebuild it and make it an airport dedicated to civil aviation.
With the opening of Fiumicino Airport in 1961, traffic fell sharply.
Today, the north of the airport has been taken over by the Italian army and most of the traffic comes from local flights or business aviation.

Location & access

Rome Ciampino Airport is located just 15 km from the centre of the Italian capital and 35 km from the Vatican. It takes about 30 minutes to reach the city centre by car via SS7 “Via Appia Nuova”.

If you wish, AEROAFFAIRES can book you a car with a multilingual driver to take you to your hotel or meeting point. Mercedes S-Class, Viano, Limousine … we put the vehicle you need at your disposal, for as long as you need it.
