Chichester : introduction
Chichester Airport, known as Goodwood Airfield or Goodwood Aerodrome, is open to civil air traffic.
Located in West Sussex, 2.8km northwest of Chichester, it can accommodate helicopters of all types, some very light jets and turboprops. The airfield is currently privately owned and has a large flying school, as well as many historic aircraft.

History of Chichester Airport
- 1939/45 : The airfield was built by Royal Air France as a landing field for RAF Tangmere. It is based on part of the Goodwood Estate and the former Westhampnett Farm. During the Battle of Britain, two fighter squadrons were based at the site.
- 1942 : The airfield is used by the Eighth Air Force of the United States Army Air Forces.
- Late 1940s : The airfield is returned to the Goodwood Estate and the perimeter track, known as the Goodwood Circuit, is used for motor racing.
