History of Stuttgart Airport
Built in 1936, Stuttgart Airport was first reserved for civil aviation before being requisitioned by the German army during the Second World War. It was then enlarged and destroyed at the end of the conflict.
After major repairs, civil air transport resumed in 1948. In 1951, a new control tower was built. The runway was enlarged in 1959. Major renovations and expansions then took place in the 1990s and 2000s. The business aviation terminal was created in 1998.
