Citation CJ4 : A little history
The Cessna Citation CJ4 is one of the highest performing models of the renowned CitationJet family, developed by Cessna Aircraft Company (now Textron Aviation). Designed as an evolution of the CJ3, it was officially unveiled in 2006 at the NBAA (National Business Aviation Association) business aviation convention.
The first flight of the CJ4 took place in 2008, and after a rigorous testing program, it received its certification in 2010. This jet was designed to offer greater range, a more spacious cabin, and improved performance compared to its predecessors, while maintaining the philosophy of the CitationJet line: an aircraft that is economical, easy to fly, and optimized for short to medium-haul business flights.
Powered by two Williams FJ44-4A engines, the CJ4 can reach a cruising speed of 835 km/h (451 knots) and offers a range of approximately 3,700 km (2,000 NM), placing it at the top of the light jet category. Its cabin was inspired by mid-size jets, providing a more refined space with reclining seats, a flat floor, and a cockpit equipped with advanced avionics (Garmin G3000).
Thanks to its excellent combination of performance, comfort, and optimized operating costs, the Citation CJ4 has become a preferred choice for business leaders, charter companies, and certified private pilots. Even today, it remains one of the most appreciated light jets on the market, competing with models like the Embraer Phenom 300 and the Pilatus PC-24.
