Practical information

Do I need to book before I go? Yes, you need to book as far in advance as possible to make sure you have enough space. If you don’t book and go straight to the heliport, you won’t be guaranteed a flight the same day, no matter how many hours you wait on site.

Can I choose the departure time? It depends. Sometimes you have a choice, but more often than not, you book only for the day (Monday to Saturday) and we’ll let you know the schedule a little later, which also makes it possible to adapt in case of bad weather. If you have a choice, prefer afternoon flights, between 2 and 3 p.m., or flights at sunset, which offer magnificent light.

When do I pay the heliport tax? Heliport tax is paid on site on the day of your flight. It’s included in the price of the tour, so it won’t count as an extra charge.

How many seats are there?Normally around 6 plus the pilot, but this is to be confirmed with us.

How do I get to the heliport? The departure point for almost all helicopters is in the same place. Address: Downtown Manhattan Heliport, Pier 6 and the East River, New York, NY 10004 If you don’t know how to get there, check out this link. We can arrange for a chauffeur-driven car to take you there. For overnight tours, the meeting point will probably be Linden Airport.

What happens once I’m there? Once you’re there, you’ll need to check in, deposit your belongings in the free lockers provided and then listen to the security measures. Don’t forget to bring your ID with you. You won’t be able to bring your personal belongings on board, except your camera. Food and beverages will not be permitted. Audioguides will be available in French.

Can I cancel and get a refund? Cancellation is free on most tours if you cancel at least 24 hours before departure.

What should I wear on the day of the flight? You can dress as you like, but we recommend that you have pockets for your personal belongings, as bags are not allowed on board. Choose dark clothing to avoid reflections in the cabin windows. There’s no need to bring your own helmet, as it will be provided.

Final recommendations

Even if the flight is short, the trip to the heliport takes time, and you need to be there 45 minutes before departure. Those who love photography and beautiful landscapes will not be disappointed. We advise you to take a camera with a built-in optical stabilizer and a wide-angle lens for the best shots. Finally, here’s a video preview of what to expect (Source: New York Off Road).
