Moreover, thanks to our SkyCO2 program, 100% of the CO2 emissions produced by each of our private flights are offset by supporting the preservation of Peru’s primary forests.

History of Ljubljana Airport

Ljubljana International Airport opened in 1963. Its runway was extended twice in 1973 and 1978 to accommodate travellers from all over the world. Following Slovenia’s war of independence in 1991, the airport was vandalised and forced to close for several months.

Today it is the only international airport in Slovenia that offers regular flights. In 2019, its passenger traffic was 1.7 million. Its only domestic and international terminal is now being modernised. The extension is scheduled for 2020.

Recommandations

Ljubljana is an economic and cultural centre, as well as a geographical crossroads between Western and Eastern Europe. Its historic centre is a perfect example of this.

We recommend that you take a kayak or paddle ride through the city to enjoy the unique views. If you want to continue discovering Ljubljana in a sporty way, you can go mountain biking in the Golovec Forest.

You are a beer lover? Visit the Union Brewery near the old centre of Ljubljana and the Tivoli Park. You can see the factory and taste the local production. To find out more about other museums to visit, click here.

To admire nature in all its splendour, Lake Bled is located 1h30 away from the capital.

Finally, to go out in the evening, the Metelkova district is worth a visit. The seven military buildings are nowadays covered with artistic works and host concerts and parties.
