Useful information
Your broker at AEROAFFAIRES acts as a single point of contact who sizes the aircraft to your trip: passenger count, baggage volume and schedule are matched to the right cabin. Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU / LJLJ) accommodates every category of private jet, from turboprops to VIP airliners.
Corporate flights: light and turboprop aircraft
For short regional hops with a small team, light and turboprop options keep the trip efficient and cost-controlled. AEROAFFAIRES draws on the full market to match your headcount precisely.
- Turboprops: ideal for nearby business destinations. The Piaggio Avanti is a fast, refined choice.
- Light jets: such as the Phenom 300, for quick point-to-point flights.
- Midsize jets: like the Citation XLS, when you need a little more cabin space.
Large-cabin jets for leisure travel
For families, groups or longer legs, a wider cabin makes all the difference. Heavy and long-range aircraft carry your party in genuine comfort, with standing headroom and full-service catering.
- Super-midsize and heavy jets: the Praetor 600 and Falcon 900 for comfortable European and intercontinental legs.
- Ultra-long-range Gulfstream: when range and cabin comfort both matter.
- Regional and VIP airliners: our regional aircraft and long-haul jets for the largest parties.

Landing by private jet in Ljubljana
Frequent international origins to Ljubljana
Most private jet flights to Ljubljana depart from major European business and leisure hubs. A private jet from Vienna reaches Ljubljana in 25 minutes, making Slovenia an easy addition to a wider itinerary across the Alps or Central Europe. Longer routes remain equally accessible, with the aircraft matched to distance and passenger count.
Frequent departure points for private jet flights to Ljubljana
Short hops from neighbouring cities keep flight times to a minimum. Vienna is the quickest confirmed route, while Budapest, Milan and Stuttgart are frequent departure points served regularly by charter. Adding Ljubljana to an Alpine or Central European circuit takes little extra flying time, so a meeting in Vienna and a stay near Lake Bled fit neatly into the same trip.
- Vienna: 25 minutes
- Budapest: 36 minutes
- Milan: 40 minutes
- Stuttgart: 47 minutes
Longer routes from London, Paris, Geneva, Zurich, Frankfurt and Middle Eastern capitals are equally straightforward. On these flights, the aircraft is chosen according to the distance and the number of passengers travelling, so the cabin and range suit your journey. Your advisor confirms the exact flight time for each route based on the aircraft type selected, since weather and payload can affect the final duration.
Location & access
Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport (LJU) lies about 20 km north of the city centre, roughly a 30-minute drive by car. After landing, your AEROAFFAIRES driver meets you planeside and takes you straight into central Ljubljana without a wait. The same private car transfer is arranged for your departure, timed precisely to your flight schedule so you reach the terminal exactly when needed. Whether you are heading to a hotel in the old town or continuing towards Lake Bled, this door-to-door service keeps every stage as discreet and seamless as the flight itself. Nothing is left to chance between the aircraft door and your final destination, and each transfer is coordinated by the same broker who handles your booking, giving you a single point of contact from tarmac to city centre.

Popular destinations from Ljubljana
From Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, our brokers open a wide network of charter flights to Europe’s business capitals and its most sought-after leisure hubs. A private jet from Ljubljana reaches Vienna in 25 minutes, Budapest in 36 minutes and Milan in 40 minutes. Regional hops across the Alps and Central Europe
The position of Ljubljana makes short regional flights particularly efficient. A light or midsize jet covers these city pairs quickly, ideal for a same-day meeting or a weekend in the mountains. Popular routes include:
- Vienna: 25 minutes
- Budapest: 36 minutes
- Milan: 40 minutes
- Stuttgart: 47 minutes
These connections suit executives shuttling between Central European offices and travellers heading straight for the Julian Alps or the Dolomites. When the season turns towards the coast and the ski resorts, Ljubljana also becomes a convenient departure point for the continent’s premier leisure destinations, from Cannes and Monaco on the French Riviera to the alpine marinas of the Adriatic. Whether you connect to a yacht or a chalet, our team confirms the aircraft, the crew and the ground transfer as one seamless arrangement, each private jet selected for range and cabin comfort.
What to do in Ljubljana: our recommendations
Slovenia’s capital pairs an intimate, walkable centre with mountains and alpine waters barely an hour away. Around Ljubljana, the finest experiences are private and tailored: a traditional boat gliding across emerald water, a helicopter climbing over Triglav peaks, guided fishing in unspoilt valleys. Here are the recommendations we arrange for discerning travellers seeking discretion over crowds.
Private cruise on Lake Bled
Board a traditional pletna boat for a private crossing to the island church, with its wishing bell and cliff-top castle overhead. The lake sits within an hour and a half of the capital by car, making it a natural day trip. We pair the outing with a lakeside lunch at an elegant retreat and, on request, a spa afternoon overlooking the water.
Panoramic helicopter tour over the Julian Alps
Few experiences match a flight above Triglav National Park, with its glacial valleys, ridges and turquoise rivers unfolding below. We arrange a private helicopter tour departing near the capital, tailored to your pace and photography wishes. It is the most striking way to grasp the scale of the Julian Alps in a single afternoon.
Guided hiking and fly-fishing experiences
The valleys around Bohinj reward those who prefer quiet immersion. A private guide leads you along trails suited to your fitness, or sets you on the pristine rivers for fly-fishing amid alpine scenery. Both can be combined with a picnic prepared by a local estate, keeping the day entirely yours.
Discovering Ljubljana old town
The Slovenian capital blends Baroque façades, Art Nouveau bridges and a riverside lined with terraces. A private tour of the Ljubljana old town and its hilltop castle with a dedicated art historian gives context beyond the postcard views. Cap the day with wine tasting at a renowned estate exploring Rebula and Teran, or private dining featuring modern Slovenian cuisine paired with local vintages.
Where to stay in Ljubljana: our recommended hotels
Ljubljana pairs a compact, walkable capital with lakeside estates less than an hour from the airport, giving you two distinct settings for a luxury stay. Our brokers arrange accommodation to match your itinerary, from a refined city-centre tower to a private residence overlooking Lake Bled.
InterContinental Ljubljana

Rising above the capital, this elegant tower places you within walking distance of Ljubljana Castle and the Ljubljanica riverbanks. The rooftop spa and gastronomic restaurant on the upper floors deliver panoramic views across the old town and the Julian Alps. Refined meeting rooms, discreet service and a central position make it a natural base for executives and leisure travellers who want the city at their doorstep. For a more intimate alternative, boutique properties in restored townhouses near Prešeren Square offer design-led rooms and personalised attention.
A lakeside retreat near Lake Bled

Roughly 27 km from Ljubljana Jože Pučnik Airport, Lake Bled is the region’s most coveted lakeside setting, reachable in well under an hour by chauffeured car. Vila Bled, a former presidential residence turned exclusive hotel, sits in private grounds with direct views of the island church and clifftop castle. A handful of premium lakeside properties combine spa facilities, refined Slovenian cuisine and quiet alpine surroundings, ideal for those extending a luxury stay towards the Julian Alps.
Whether you favour the energy of central Ljubljana or the calm of the water’s edge, we tailor each recommendation to your standards and secure the reservation alongside your private flight.

History of Ljubljana Airport
Ljubljana International Airport opened in 1963. Its runway was extended twice, in 1973 and 1978, to welcome travelers from all over the world. Following Slovenia’s war of independence in 1991, the airport was vandalized and forced to close for several months.
Today, it is Slovenia’s only international airport with scheduled flights. In 2019, its passenger traffic was 1.7 million. Its single domestic and international terminal is currently being modernized. The extension is scheduled for 2020.
