The airport of Perugia-Sant’Egidio, whose official name is “Aeroporto internazionale dell’Umbria-Perugia San Francesco d’Assisi“, is open to public and civil air traffic. It is dedicated to business and tourist aviation.
Located in Sant’Egidio, about 15 km from Perugia, the airport is the only stopover in the region for commercial aircraft. It can therefore accommodate aircraft of all sizes, including very light jets.

- 1938 : the airport is inaugurated in the presence of Mussolini.
- 1943 : it becomes the headquarters of the “Ground Bombardment Group of the 3rd Regia Aeronautica Air Team”, until September.
- 1944 : the region is important for the Germans and Italians who deploy numerous departments during the first months of the year.
- 2009 : ENAC signs the concession for the total management of the airport with SASE for a period of 20 years.
- 2011 : the airport is renovated and receives its new official name “Aeroporto internazionale dell’Umbria-Perugia San Francesco d’Assisi”.
- 2014: the concession is transferred entirely to SASE.
- 2015 : it is included in the list of airports of “national interest”.
