History of Marseille Provence Airport

The airport was founded in 1922. It was then called Marseille Marignane, to later be renamed Marseille Provence Airport. The German army used it during the Second World War and destroyed it entirely in 1944.

It was back in service in 1961, after its reconstruction, and has continued to expand ever since. Two new terminals were built between 1993 and 1998 and its most recent terminal was built in 2006.
