General description
Turin is the capital of Piedmont, in northern Italy. It is known for the refinement of its architecture and its gastronomy. The Alps rise to the northwest of the city. Stunning Baroque buildings and old cafés line the Turin boulevards and the main squares, such as Piazza Castello and Piazza San Carlo. The slender spire of the Mole Antonelliana stands nearby; this nineteenth-century tower is occupied by the interactive National Museum of Cinema.
