Boeing 787 Dreamliner : Introduction
The Boeing 787 Dreamliner is a long-haul aircraft. It is a product of the manufacturer Boeing. The American aircraft manufacturer has succeeded in building a plane that can carry between 200 and 300 people. The 787 Dreamliner has a range of up to 14,140 km. This relatively long range is made possible by fuel consumption that is 20 to 25% lower than that of its competitors. As a result, it is possible to fly between London and Beijing, Paris-Bangkok and Singapore-Dubai.
Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner: a little history
The origins of the Boeing 787-9
Production of the Boeing Dreamliner began in 2009. It had previously been launched in 2004. The main objective of this aircraft was to support the A380 fleet, which was considered too expensive. Orders for the A380 were not high enough to offset its manufacturing costs. Several airlines were therefore interested in this commercial aircraft. This was confirmed by an order from All Nippon Airways. The airline has ordered 50 aircraft for its fleet.
Several other national and international airlines followed suit, including American Airlines, Air France KLM, Emirates, Qatar Airways and Air Austral. The Dreamliner 787-9 now flies around the world on commercial flights and serves international airports.
The aircraft’s success is also due to its unique and innovative production process. This is the first aircraft to be built 80% by subcontractors. Boeing called on several industrial companies to produce and assemble the aircraft. It was a revolution in aircraft construction.

The interior of the Boeing aircraft
This airliner has a fairly classic interior. There are three columns of seats, with 7 seats per row. On long-haul flights, screens are placed on the backs of the seats. This allows customers to be entertained during the flight.
There is also a VIP version. This transforms the aircraft into a business jet. It can also be converted into a cargo plane if heavy loads or bulky objects need to be transported.
The advantages of the Boeing 787 Dreamliner
Seating capacity: The Boeing 787 can carry a large number of passengers. This means lower costs and higher margins for the manufacturer. As a result, the price to the customer is not excessive.
Comfort: Boeing offers 3 different classes on this aircraft:
- Economy
- business
- first class.
The last two categories are more expensive, but offer superior travel comfort.
Range: The Boeing has a range of 14,140 km. This means it can fly to almost any city in the world without a stopover.
