Practical information about Munich airport
Munich Airport ranks as one of Europe’s most strategic gateways for business aviation, thanks to its position at the doorstep of the Alps and the heart of southern Germany’s industrial economy. Munich sits within reach of nine airports inside a 50-mile radius, giving private flights exceptional routing flexibility across Bavaria and Austria.
For corporate travellers, the airport connects directly to German business hubs and to executives heading toward the Alpine ski resorts of Bavaria and the Tyrol. High-end leisure clients, family offices and concierge intermediaries use it as a discreet base for seasonal escapes, while the Challenger 850 and similar long-range aircraft handle transcontinental routes to New York and Miami with ease.
A private jet charter from Munich removes the friction of scheduled airline travel: no fixed timetables, no congested terminals, and full control over your itinerary.
- Schedule freedom : you set the departure time, not the airline.
- Alpine access : reach Bavarian and Austrian ski resorts faster than any commercial connection allows.
- Aircraft choice : from light jets for short European hops to heavy jets for intercontinental legs, the right cabin for every mission.
- Discretion and service : direct tarmac access and dedicated handling for executives, celebrities and family offices.
- Empty-leg value : with over 30% of private jet charters flying empty, repositioning flights can offer real savings on select routes.

Landing by private jet in Munich
Frequent international origins to Munich
Travellers reach Munich by private jet from across Europe’s major financial and industrial centres, with long-haul arrivals from the Middle East and the United States rounding out the picture. Munich serves as the capital of Bavaria and a primary gateway to the Alps, drawing both corporate and leisure flyers year-round. For exact routes, durations and pricing, an AEROAFFAIRES advisor can build your itinerary in detail.
Popular Inbound Routes to Munich
European business hubs account for the bulk of inbound traffic. Short and medium hops are typically flown on light and midsize jets, while transatlantic legs from the United States call for large-cabin aircraft with the range and luggage capacity that intercontinental travel demands. The Falcon 900 handles heavier long-haul missions comfortably, where a Phenom 300 or a Citation suits quicker European connections.

Seasonal Demand for Munich Charters
Demand shifts noticeably with the calendar. Winter brings a strong flow of VIP flights as clients head for the ski resorts of Bavaria and the Tyrol, with Munich acting as the natural arrival point before onward transfers into the mountains. Winter ski season and summer events drive the two peaks of private jet charter traffic into Munich.
Summer reverses the pattern: cultural tourism, business conferences and the city’s calendar of events fill cabins inbound from across Europe. Whatever the season, your advisor matches the right aircraft category to the distance and your party size, so the flights you book reflect the realities of the route rather than guesswork.
Location & access to Munich airport
Munich Airport sits 28 km northeast of the city center and is reached in around 30 minutes by car via the A9 motorway. From the moment you land, AeroAffaires arranges a seamless transfer so your journey continues without interruption.

The right cabin depends on distance, group size and luggage. For quick European legs, a Very Light Jet or a light cabin jet handles couples and small parties with ease. History of Munich Munchen Airport
Between 1939 and 1992, Munich’s main airport was Munich Riem. Plans for a new airport began to emerge in 1954, but it wasn’t built until 1980. Construction took almost 12 years, and all airport activities were transferred on May 17, 1992.
Since then, Munich Munchen International Airport has continued to expand and grow. A project to create a third runway is currently underway, but the surrounding population is vehemently opposed and is blocking its completion for the time being.
Munich’s Oberpfaffenhofen airport, located 20 km southwest of the city, is also accessible to private jets. Munich Oberpfaffenhofen is reserved entirely for business aviation, and has two airport service operators.
