Landing by private jet in Vienna
Frequent international origins to Vienna
Private jets land at Vienna International Airport from across Europe, the Middle East and North America. The busiest routes connect Vienna with major European hubs, where light and midsize aircraft cover the short hops, while transatlantic arrivals call for large-cabin and heavy jets. A private jet charter from London to Vienna takes 2.5 hours, against 8.5 hours from New York aboard a heavy jet.
Most passengers fall into two categories: corporate travellers attending business meetings in the Austrian capital, and high-end leisure visitors drawn by Vienna’s culture, music and palaces. Demand peaks from April to October and around the Christmas period, when concert and festive seasons fill the city.
The most frequent international origins flying into Vienne include:
- London : 2.5 hours, midsize jet, from $11,500 (7-8 passengers);
- Nice : 2.0 hours, compact jet, from $7,500 (4-5 passengers);
- Istanbul : 2.0 hours, light jet, from $8,500 (6-7 passengers);
- Milan : 1.5 hours, turboprop, from $5,500 (6-8 passengers);
- New York : 8.5 hours, heavy jet, from $66,500 (12-18 passengers).
Aircraft selection follows the distance: light jets for European routes, ultra-long-range cabins for intercontinental flights into Schwechat.
Location & access to Vienna airport

History of Vienna Schwechat Airport
Opened in 1938, Vienna Schwechat Airport was originally an Austrian air base, before being placed under British control after the Second World War. Following privatization in 1954, it became Vienna’s main airport, and underwent extensive redevelopment until 1977.
In 2004, a VIP terminal was built away from the other buildings to accommodate private flights discreetly.
