Description of Md 82
The McDonnell Douglas MD 82 is one of a series of single-aisle airliners developed by McDonnell Douglas from the earlier DC-9. With a stretched format, increased weight and improved Pratt & Whitney JT8D-200 engines, the first model of this series was launched in 1977 and certified in 1980. It was first delivered to Swissair, who introduced it to their fleet in 1980.
Announced on April 16, 1979, the MD-82 was similar to the MD-81 but equipped with more powerful JT8D-217C engines. This model is used by many commercial operators worldwide, such as the North American Republic Airlines and the Taiwanese U-Land Airlines.
This aircraft can be adapted to many uses, and converted into a cargo plane for the transport of freight, and has several configurations.
