Dash 8-300: A little history
The Bombardier Dash 8-300, also known as the Q300, is part of the successful Dash 8 family, developed by de Havilland Canada and later integrated into Bombardier Aerospace. Launched in 1989, it was designed to meet the growing demand for a reliable, economical, high-performance regional aircraft. The successor to the Dash 8-100 and 200, this version boasts a more spacious cabin, increased capacity for up to 56 passengers and improved range, enabling it to provide fast inter-regional connections. Thanks to its two Pratt & Whitney Canada PW123 turboprop engines, it combines fuel efficiency and power, while remaining suitable for short runways and harsh environments. In 2000, Bombardier introduced “Quiet” (Q-Series) technology to reduce cabin noise and vibration, enhancing passenger comfort. Today, the Dash 8-300 remains a preferred choice for regional airlines, private operators and special missions, thanks to its proven reliability and adaptability to the needs of business aviation.
