Brief history of London Farnborough airport
London Farnborough Airport was the UK’s first airfield and the base for the first powered flight in 1908. During the two world wars, it was requisitioned by the Royal Air Force. It remained the property of the British Ministry of Defense until 1989.
It became entirely dedicated to business and private aviation in 1994, and was bought by the TAG company in 1997. Now, all flights that land or take off at the airport are from one private aviation company or the other. Commercial airlines are excluded from London Farnborough.
Since then, its official name is “TAG Farnborough Airport”. Every two years, it hosts the TAG Farnborough Air Show, the British equivalent of the Paris Air Show.
