History of Brussels Airport
Built by the Germans during the Second World War, Brussels airport became Belgium’s national airport at the end of the conflict.
For the 1958 World’s Fair, the airport’s runway was lengthened and a new terminal built in the municipality of Zaventem. Since the 1970s, the airport has grown steadily to meet increasing passenger demand.
