History of Lyon Bron Airport
The Lyon pilot school opened its doors in 1910, allowing the construction of this airport. During the First World War, it was used as a training ground by the French army. The airport was officially inaugurated in 1920.
After the Second World War, it returned to its civilian duties, with connections towards Switzerland and North Africa. A new control tower was built in 1966. In 1975, traffic was resumed at Saint Exupéry Airport. Lyon Bron then took over private aviation and now welcomes about 11,000 business passengers every year.
As part of your business trip or your holiday, we suggest you stay at the Villa Florentine, former convent refurbished as a 5-star hotel, nestled on the heights of the city, in the historic district of the 5th arrondissement.
Take the time to make a stopover at the gourmet restaurant Christian Tetedoie, located on the Fourvière hill. The chef who gives his name to the restaurant explores the French tradition with talent, while putting the Mediterranean in the spotlight.
