Valenciennes-Denain airport, known as Charles-Nungesser airport or “Valenciennois airport”, is open to public air traffic. It is dedicated to national and international air transport, airline pilot training, as well as leisure and tourism activities.

History of Valenciennes-Denain Airport
- 1892 : birth of Charles Eugène Jules Marie Nungesser. He was one of the aces of French military aviation during the First World War, winning 45 official victories.
- 1927: He took off from Le Bourget in a biplane with his comrade, the navigator François Coli, but the plane crashed some time later. According to some accounts, he flew over Maine and Newfoundland, making him the first man to cross the Atlantic.
- 1937 : The airport is opened to the public.
- 2007 : The new railway station is inaugurated.
- 2013 : Prouvy airport becomes Charles-Nungesser airport.
