The history ofEmbraer 170
The story of the Embraer 170 began in the late 1990s, when Brazilian aircraft manufacturer Embraer decided to enter the regional passenger aircraft market. The company already had experience in building business and military aircraft, but it still lacked a commercial passenger aircraft.
Embraer began developing the aircraft in 1999 and presented the Embraer 170 prototype in 2001. The first flight of the aircraft took place in February 2002 and certification for commercial operation was obtained in 2004.
The Embraer 170 was the first member of Embraer’s E-Jet family, which includes the Embraer 170, Embraer 175, Embraer 190 and Embraer 195. These aircraft have been designed for regional passenger transport and are intended to replace larger aircraft such as the Airbus A320 and Boeing 737.
The Embraer 170 has quickly become popular with airlines around the world, as it offers an excellent combination of range, capacity and efficiency. The aircraft is designed to carry 76 passengers and has a range of around 3,700 km. This allows airlines to serve cities within a wider radius without having to use larger aircraft. In the years since its launch, Embraer has developed several versions of the Embraer 170, including the Embraer 170STD, Embraer 170LR and Embraer 170AR.
