History of Lyon Bron airport

France’s third-largest airfield, Lyon Bron airport boasts a terminal dedicated to business and private aviation, allowing private jet passengers to board discreetly.

The Lyon pilots’ school opened in 1910, leading to the construction of the airport. During the First World War, it served as a training ground for the French army. The airport was officially inaugurated in 1920.

After the Second World War, it resumed its civilian functions, with connections to Switzerland and North Africa. A new control tower was built in 1966. In 1975, traffic was taken over by Saint Exupéry airport. Lyon Bron then concentrated on private aviation, and today welcomes around 11,000 business passengers a year.
