History of Dusseldorf Airport
Düsseldorf Airport opened its doors in 1927, after two years of construction and despite the fact that the first aircraft had landed on the site in 1909. In 1977, the airport acquired a new building and two new wings, increasing its capacity to 8 million passengers. Düsseldorf became Germany’s second-busiest airport.
