Location & access
Geneva Cointrin Airport is located 4 km northwest of the city. It takes 17 minutes by car to reach the city centre from the airport.
Meet at the Tag Aviation terminal, located at 20 Chemin des Papillons, or at Jet Aviation, at number 18. It is from one of these two terminals that private jets take off, allowing discreet arrivals and departures.
If you wish, AEROAFFAIRES can book you a vehicle with driver on your arrival and departure from Geneva Cointrin Airport.
Useful information
The airport is open to private aviation every day from 6am to 10pm.
Its coordinates are:
- Airport Code: GVA/LSGG
- Latitude: 46°14′18″ N
- Longitude: 006°06′34″ E
- Altitude: 430 m
- Runway length: 3,900 m
The runway is long enough to accommodate all types of jets: from ultra-light private jets such as the Embraer Phenom 100, to long-haul jets such as the Airbus A320. Due to noise pollution, night flights are prohibited between 10pm and 6am.
As the airport has only one runway, a strict regulation concerning take-off and landing slots is applied.
AEROAFFAIRES is in charge of offering you the best available time slots according to your needs.
If no slots are available, you will be able to land at one of the airports close to Geneva, either Annecy or Chambery.
In each of the two terminals, you will find:
- Comfortable private lounges to relax or work;
- A customs and private security service;
- A parking service;
- A baggage management service.
History of Geneva Cointrin Airport
It was near the village of Cointrin that the Grand Council of Geneva decided to set up an airport in 1919. The runway was 1200 m long at the time and it was not until 1946 that the first terminal was built.
In the 1950s, Switzerland exchanged land with France to extend the runway to 3900 m.
Since 2001, the airport has annually hosted a major aeronautics exhibition: EBACE.
