Marrakech Menara: a little history
Menara is one of the districts of Marrakech, Morocco. Known for its vast olive garden, 12th-century irrigation basin, Almohad-style pavilion and panoramic view of the Atlas Mountains, this historically rich site attracts visitors of all kinds.
Its airport, built in 1942, served as an American army base until 1947. It was expanded in 2008 and 2016 to cope with increasing traffic, and is one of the first airports in North Africa to offer dedicated facilities for private aviation. In September 2019, Marrakech Menara hosted the third edition of the MEBBA Show Morocco, a prestigious international trade show for business aviation professionals, which brings together many of the sector’s professions every year.
