Twin jet is a French airline with a fleet of 13 private jets. This business airline serves several destinations and provides numerous air traffic links across France and Europe . From its history to its terms and conditions, not forgetting its fleet of first-class aircraft, we tell you all about this pioneer of air transport.

The history of Twin Jet

  • May 2001: The national airline Twin Jet is founded in Aix en Provence, considered to be the first French private jet company with a real fleet of aircraft, making it one of the leading private jet airlines to have been founded in France.
  • October 2001: The company makes its first flight in French airspace, flying from Nîmes to Châteauroux. At the same time, the group obtained its Air Carrier Certificate.
  • In 2006: Twin Jet introduced electronic tickets and set up a dedicated customer call centre.
  • In 2008: The company made it possible forpassengers to purchase plane tickets online via their website.
  • 2016: Twin Jet acquires another airline, Hex’Air .
  • In 2017: A commercial agreement was signed with various airlines enabling Twin Jet to connect its scheduled routes via Paris airport (Orly) with the Air France and Hop! groups .

The airline’s business

With an average of around 40 scheduled flights a day, and over 200 journeys a week, the airline’s schedule is very full. The airline offers cheap group flights. This is an economical way to travel for a seminar, for example. For example, a trip from Paris to Marseille for 19 people can cost as little as €200 per ticket! This is not much more than the cost of a seat in economy class in civil aviation, and even less than business class. In addition to the group flights on offer, Twin Jet also operates internationally for freight and goods transport. Finally, with the health crisis, business aviation has considerably increased its activity, so there has been an increase in the number of flights operated, by being requisitioned for medical repatriations. The aircraft used, the Beechcraft 1900D, is perfectly adapted and can be fitted out to accommodate up to 4 stretchers as well as the medical equipment essential for the flight crew. Twin Jet is also in partnership with the ARS (Agence Régionale de Santé) to transport COVID 19 patients between hospitals.

Destinations served by Twin Jet direct flights

This national airline has been instrumental in the development of regional and scheduled routes in France (as well as in Europe).

Today, there are 14 cities with direct connections, 11 in France and 3 in Europe.

In France :

In Europe :

By offering departures from the airports of these main cities as destinations, the company is able to offer special deals on all its flights and more attractive fares. It is a very competitive French airline and one of the best jet companies for the price. For flagship routes such as Le Puy-en-Velay to Paris, but also from Lyon to Metz, or Metz to Toulouse, expect to pay from €160 for the ticket, enough to increase the number of flights per week for the airline.

Twin Jet also offers access to a dozen other cities, but you’ll need to factor in a connection on the way.

Their fleet of aircraft

Twin Jet’s aircraftfleet consists of 13 Beech 1900Ds. The number of passengers carried by this business jet is 19. Ideal for group flights, this aircraft does not make long-haul flights like a Boeing, for example. However, it is ideal for short-haul flights to regional destinations or European cities close to France.

One of the big advantages of the Beech 1900D, as well as combining comfort and safety, is that it can land on very short runways. This mode of transport makes it possible to get to airports that are not served by commercial airlines. This allows passengers to arrive as close as possible to their destination, avoiding long transfers. This undeniable time saving is a real advantage, especially for the millions of passengers travelling for business reasons.

Some practical information about Twin Jet

Passenger baggage

If you are travelling with Twin Jet, you must differentiate between hand baggage and hold baggage.

For hand baggage, the passenger must ensure that the total dimensions do not exceed 115 cm and that the weight does not exceed 10 kg. They will be responsible for all their personal belongings for the entire journey.

As far as hold baggage is concerned, it must be checked in beforehand and suitably labelled with the passenger’s full name and address, so that it can be easily found in the event of loss or problem.

Travellers can have just one suitcase in the hold, at no extra cost if it does not exceed the regulatory weight limit of 20 kilos.

Formalities for your journey

Before your journey, don’t forget to bring your boarding ticket and any other documents you may need. These include your identity card and/or passport and, if necessary, your health documents.

The advantage of business aviation is, on the one hand, the promise of no flight delays, and on the other, the speed of procedures and efficiency. From the moment you arrive at the airport to the moment you board your flight, it can take as little as 10 minutes! What’s more, during the pandemic, the airline set up private shuttles at 4 airports (Marseille, Paris Le Bourget, Toulouse and Lyon) to reduce waiting times and make travelling easier. Avoid the crowds and hustle and bustle of traditional airports, and enjoy the peace and quiet.

The loyalty programme

Twin Jet is in a sense part of a group of companies, having joined Flying Blue, the Air France KLM frequent flyer programme. This frequent flyer programme enables travellers to earn Miles which can then be converted into flight tickets for use throughout the Flying Blue network. This offer is not available to low-cost carriers.

Finally, Twin Jet offers its travellers two paying frequent flyer cards, with a choice of advantages, which quickly pay for themselves if you travel regularly.
