Vistajet is an international airline founded in 2004. With a fleet of more than 70 business jets, Vistajet offers private and business flights on different types of aircraft to a wide range of more or less accessible destinations. We tell you all about the history, actions and fleet of this air transport company specializing in the business aviation market.

The history of Vistajet.

  • 2004: originally named Air Executive, Vistajet was founded in Switzerland and opened its first terminal. The president of the corporation is Thomas Flohr, who was and still is the founding president of the airline. He began by buying a personal private jet, then several aircraft which he flew on a leasing system to make them profitable. It was therefore quite natural for T. Flohr to enter the aeronautical sector, and private aviation in particular. A year later, he already owned 3 aircraft providing air taxi services.
  • 2008: the airline joined forces with Bombardier Skyjet. It operates and charters a number of Bombardier business jets. It also placed a major order that year for 35 private jets worth a total of $1.2 billion. Vistajet became a true pioneer in private aviation, with a focus on luxury service. It is also one of the most active Swiss airlines in the chartering of private aircraft.
  • 2012: Vistajet takes orders for aircraft from Bombardier, notably for the Global and Challenger ranges.
  • 2013: The company expands its business to the US market and is no longer just a national airline by partnering with Jet Aviation Flight Services.
  • 2015: Still expanding with soaring bookings, the airline reduces its business aircraft offering by only offering select aircraft from Bombardier’s Global and Challenger range.
  • 2019-2020: During the Covid-19 pandemic, Vistajet takes the step of offering medical evacuation flights as well as free empty flights for the medical sector and the government. It also provides connections, take-offs and landings for emergency flights.

The Vistajet airline business today.

Headquartered in Malta, the airline now offers its passengers access to a wide range of destinations and services. Far removed from the principle of regular routes and the constraints of commercial flights, this private aircraft rental company cultivates the idea of being able to travel anywhere, anytime. You really do travel on demand, and that’s exactly what the company does, whatever the number of passengers. In fact, this airline offers worldwide coverage when it comes to mobility. It has already operated to over 1,900 airports and served 96% of the world’s countries, giving it a very long range.

Vistajet’s environmental actions

Carbon neutrality by 2025.

It’s the ecological aspect that’s important. In any case, that’s what the company wants for its various activities. And it has already started to take steps in this direction. Vistajet has invested in and supports various projects around the world aimed at reducing CO2 emissions and greenhouse gases. It also uses sustainable fuels (SAF), which reduce aircraft pollution by up to 85% compared with non-sustainable fuels.

Technology at the service of ecology.

In line with its efforts to achieve carbon neutrality, Vistajet is investing in new technologies such as those developed by Dassault-aviation.

Some of these are algorithms for optimising the various stages of a flight to maximise fuel savings.

Others facilitateautomation and reduce potential problems. The result is a fuel saving of almost 8% per flight, thanks to the application of new technologies.

Vistajet’s other areas of sustainable development.

The airline is very involved in the use of renewable resources and tries to limit over-consumption in general.

That’s why, for its offices, the company is trying to find a solution to reduce its electricity consumption. To begin with, it is using electricity from renewable sources in its main offices.
Similarly, with a view to avoiding pollution, single-use items such as plastic toothbrushes, disposable crockery and plastic packaging all find an ecological and/or sustainable equivalent in a private jet.

The Vistajet fleet.

If you see a silver business jet with a red border, you’re flying with Vistajet. If this is their trademark, the airline’s fleet is made up of jets from aircraft manufacturer Bombardier.

The Challenger range

  • The Challenger 350: the ideal, reliable medium-sized business jet for 8 passengers. With a range of almost 6,000 km and a flight time of over 7 hours, you can easily fly non-stop from Paris to Dubai. Take 4 suitcases and 4 cabin bags with you: that’s the capacity of the Challenger 350’s hold.
  • The Challenger 605: This is the private jet with the widest cabin in its category, guaranteeing you unrivalled comfort in flight. With a range of up to 7,400 km, it’s ideal for medium-haul flights. Finally, with a capacity of 12 people, you can carry 5 suitcases and as much hand luggage.
  • The Challenger 850: Finally, this private jet is equivalent to the Global 6000 in terms of cabin space. This business jet has plenty of space in the hold for 20 suitcases and 4 pieces of hand luggage. Accommodating up to 14 passengers, the space on this long-haul aircraft is extremely pleasant and functional.

Vistajet has put together its fleet of aircraft to meet all its customers’ needs. You’ll find aircraft for short-haul, medium-haul and long-haul flights.

Vistajet’s new discount programme.

There’s no shortage of ideas at Vistajet, and indeed the airline has introduced a system of discounts on flights. This may be a solution for accessing the same services, but at slightly lower fares.
All you have to do is book your journey as early as possible. If you book at least one week in advance of your flight, the company will offer you a discount. This system is explained by the fact that the company can organise the available jets further in advance and therefore avoid non-essential repositioning, which wastes fuel.

For example, in 2019, this system reduced movements between London airports by 20%. This also helps to limit its CO2 impact.
