Taxe de Solidarité sur les Billets d'Avion (TSBA) in France explained by AEROAFFAIRES
As of March 1, 2025, the Taxe de Solidarité sur les Billets d’Avion (TSBA) in France has undergone a significant increase, and now applies to all passengers departing from French territory, having a major impact on the business aviation sector, particularly charterers of private jets and commercial aircraft.
This tax, initially created in 2006 to finance international solidarity projects, has seen its amounts significantly increased according to travel class, aircraft type and distance traveled.
Here is a summary of the main new rates:
Type of flight | Turboprop (€/passenger) | Private jet (€/passenger) |
---|---|---|
Intra-European flight (e.g. Switzerland, UK) | 210 € | 420 € |
Intermediate destination (2,000 to 5,500 km) | 675 € | 1 015 € |
Long-haul (> 5,500 km) | 1 025 € | 2 100 € |
For flights in economy class, the tax is €7.40 for European destinations, €15 for intermediate destinations and up to €40 for long-haul flights, while in business class it can reach €30, €80 and €120 respectively.
Certain exemptions exist, notably for flights to Corsica and overseas territories.
This increase is intended to reinforce the ecological taxation of air transport and to finance solidarity, but it represents a significant additional cost for private aviation, where the tax can amount to several thousand euros per passenger for long-haul routes.
This measure is therefore a key element to be integrated into the budgeting of business flights and private jets departing from France as of March 2025.
